March 18, 2020 Announcement - South Shore Folk Music Club at First Parish Duxbury is canceling our remaining shows in March, April, and May 2020.  Refunds for advance tickets will be processed online. We have based this decision on CDC.gov and Mass.gov Coronavirus recommendations to postpone or cancel non-essential large events or gatherings to help prevent transmission of the Coronavirus.  It is clearly in the best interest of the health of our patrons, musicians, and volunteers to follow current state and federal guidelines on restricting large gatherings.  We are currently rescheduling our cancelled shows to our 2020-2021 season, and look forward to seeing our patrons, musicians, and volunteers next season.

Tickets: $9 Member, $10 Non-Member (register here or at the door)

Our coffeehouses are set up in café style with tables and chairs where you can enjoy a coffee, tea, or soft drink and a snack while you listen to live music.  The featured musicians and open mic performers from the audience provide an evening of entertainment.  Since our shows are from 7 PM until 9:15 PM we encourage families to share the experience together.  Children under 12 are half price.  Come enjoy the show!

Tall Richard "Blues Folk Roots" Tour

An acoustic evening in honor of SSFMC’s humble beginnings where folk music in an acoustic format was the principle of 40 plus years of the Club.  This is a synopsis of the blues roots of Tall Richard’s career, exploring his earliest influences of pure, acoustic music.  This will be a wonderful journey down memory lane with an all acoustic band and narrative by Tall Richard.  Mark your calendar and tell everyone you meet that Tall Richard is going back home to the original inspiration of SSFMC on this “roots tour”.

Joe Folan - Opener

Joe Folan is what some might call a jack of all trades. He started playing guitar and writing songs at 10 years old and hasn’t stopped since.  Along the way, he developed a keen ear for Folk, Rock, Funk, Jazz, Blues and everything in between.  As a songwriter this is reflected in Joe’s work, which seeks to run the stylistic gamut of American music and stir emotions with thoughtful lyrics.

Open Mic- Open Mic before and after the break. Sign up at the door when we open at 6:30 PM.  No early sign-ups.  You must sign yourself up.  Four 8 minute slots before intermission and two 8 minute slots after intermission.  First come, first served until our slots are full.
